Dear subscribers,

Thank you for your support. It really means a lot to me. The little chats I had with you individually have been especially meaningful and helpful, and I’m deeply grateful.

I want to keep producing content in a way that is more accessible and provides the best experience for you. After much thought, I will be moving my content onto Patreon by 24 May 2022.

In the meantime, I’ll still be producing and posting here. You don’t need to do anything, and articles will be posted on both sites till further notice.

The reason I’m moving is because I’m not well-trained to run a website that accepts payments and memberships. These aren’t basic features, and there are additional plugins (software) I have to pay, install and maintain, on top of the web hosting and WordPress subscription ($420 annually). I have been learning on my own, but apparently I’m not the sharpest tool in the shed.

Once in a while, I run into technical issues. For example, annual memberships are not renewing and some people weren’t able to log in. Despite hours trying to address the issue, I wasn’t able to reach a good fix. I had to individually reset the account to get it to work again, and I can foresee that it will happen again next year. It has been frustrating, and I’m very sorry for the inconvenience.

To avoid such problems, I think the best move is to go on Patreon, which is built for such memberships. Besides the ease and lower costs of running, I think its more readable and provides a better user experience. Most people will be more comfortable using their existing Apple, Google or Facebook account, rather than creating a new one here.

It also means that I can devote more time to actual content rather than the technicalities of running a website. There will only be more content available, not less.

As valued supporters, I want to provide generous compensation for the transition.

  • For monthly subscribers, I will provide 2 months of cash rebate ($10)
  • For annual subscribers, I will return the unused balance plus 3 months of rebate ($15)
  • For lifetime subscribers, I will refund the full $150. I cannot continue with the lifetime offer as Patreon does not have this option. It only feels right to refund in full as you did not get lifetime content. I feel very privileged that you trusted me so early on.

I will make the payments progressively over the new few weeks as I move and get Patreon ready. The funds will be credited to your Paypal account and I will absorb any transaction fees.

If anything is not to your satisfaction, just drop me an email at and I will make it right for you.

Finally, the price of SGD $5 a month will be maintained (give or take currency differences as Patreon is in USD). This is far below what others are charging, especially for the amount of details, speed of transaction updates, and the portfolio’s size and returns.

I hope for your continued support at Patreon, once it is ready. What I didn’t expect is how writing here would help me improve as an investor and person. I’ll aim to keep growing and providing value to your financial journey.

Thank you.

  1. If not too late, can I suggest substack instead of patreon? Lots of established content writers have moved substack whereas patreon seems to be more for creatives and media.

    1. Hi Callie! I have already moved my content onto Patreon but I did check out Substack. I decided not to as Substack doesn’t allow easy Google or Apple logins. And most of the financial content creators are on Patreon as well. So I will stick to it. Thanks for the suggestion though!

  2. Hello,

Please provide the link to your Patreon account once it’s ready as I’d like to subscribe to it. Just gotten the refund from you. 🙂

  3. Hi, I have not received the refund in my Paypal account for my monthly subscription. Do I need to subscribe again in Pateron Account?

    1. Hi stbh, sorry I haven’t replied yet. Paypal oddly reversed the payment I made. I’ll try again now, let me know again if it doesn’t work. Thanks!

  4. Hi theFI35 (Andrew), I have received $14.30 in my Paypal account. Thanks and I will subscribe and follow your postings in Pateron.
